7 Homemade Cleaners To Naturally Remove Dirt And Grime
Now that the weather’s getting colder for many, getting your home nice and clean is more difficult. You can’t open your windows to let fresh air in and chemicals out, meaning you either have to deal with the heavy chemical smell (yuck!) or find alternatives to use during the winter months.
Instead of going out and buying more chemical cleaners that are not as effective as what you’re used to, raid your cabinets and create some of these homemade, environmentally friendly household cleaners. These work just as well as what you’re used to but doesn’t have the heavy smells and harsh chemicals of other cleaners.
To make all 7 of these cleaners, you need just 9 ingredients total!

Oven Cleaner
Cleaning your oven is one of the smelliest and most chemical-laden jobs around. With this recipe, which contains only two ingredients, get rid of all that baked-on, overboiled food and grime without driving you and your family from the house with the smell.
Ingredients
- 1 c baking soda
- Water
Put baking soda in a bowl and add a small amount of water, mixing well. Continue adding water until you have a slightly loose paste.
Before using, clean any loose food particles from the bottom of the oven and remove the racks. Spread the paste on the oven, avoiding any heating elements. Close the oven and let it sit for 30 minutes. Once the time is up, scrub oven with a wet non-scratch sponge to scour any stuck-on areas. Wipe inside of oven clean and rinse with a damp sponge.
